Mobile Entry
Your phone → your PC, over your own Wi-Fi. Nothing in between.
What it is
Your phone is already in your hand when you're standing at the water heater. Mobile Entry lets it talk directly to Tendlore on your PC: snap nameplate photos, attach them to a system in your binder, or type in a whole new system — make, model, serial, install date — right where you're standing.
There is no phone app to install and no account to create. Tendlore runs a small web page on your home network, you scan a QR code, and your phone's browser does the rest. It works with iPhone and Android alike.
How the privacy works
When you turn Mobile Entry on, Tendlore starts a tiny web server inside the app, on your PC. It listens only on your local network — it is not connected to the internet, and photos travel phone-to-PC without ever leaving your home. No Volarra server is involved at any point; this is the same local-first promise as the rest of Tendlore, and it's written into our privacy policy.
The QR code contains a long random code that changes every time the server starts — that's what keeps the page private to you. The server runs only while Mobile Entry is on: a badge in Tendlore's sidebar always shows when it's listening (and on which port), and you can stop it from there, from Settings, or from the tray icon's menu.
Turning it on
- In Tendlore, open Settings → Mobile Entry and turn it on.
- The first time, Windows asks whether to allow Tendlore on your network — choose Allow. That's the Windows firewall meeting your new local server; nothing is being shared beyond your own Wi-Fi.
- A QR code appears in Settings. Point your phone's camera at it and tap the link.
- The page opens in your phone's browser: pick a system and add photos, or fill in the "add a new system" form. Everything appears in Tendlore on your PC as it arrives.
By default the server starts whenever Tendlore starts (there's a toggle for that), and because the tray icon keeps Tendlore alive, closing the window doesn't stop it — Exit from the tray does.
If the phone can't load the page
- Same network? The phone must be on the same Wi-Fi as the PC. Guest networks and hotel-style setups often isolate devices from each other on purpose — if your router has an "AP isolation" or "client isolation" option, it will block phone-to-PC connections entirely.
- Firewall said no? If the Windows firewall question was dismissed or denied earlier, allow Tendlore under Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app through firewall, then stop and start Mobile Entry.
- QR won't scan? The exact address is printed under the QR code in Settings — type it into the phone's browser by hand.
- Stopped working after a restart? The code in the QR changes each time the server starts — scan the current one from Settings rather than an old browser tab.
